Thank-you page ideas that get you more sales

A thank-you page is the page buyers see right after they pay. To get more sales from it, confirm the order clearly, tell buyers exactly what happens next, and then offer one useful next step: an upsell that goes with what they bought, an invite to your WhatsApp group, a referral reward, or a link to follow you. Buyers are happiest and most trusting right after paying, so this page is a great moment to deepen the relationship.

Most stores show "Thank you for your order" and nothing else. That's a missed chance.

1. Confirm the order clearly

Before anything else, remove worry:

  • "Payment received. Thank you, Ama!"
  • Order number and what they bought
  • How much they paid
  • That a receipt is on its way by email or SMS

A buyer who isn't sure the payment went through will message you, or worse, dispute the payment.

2. Say what happens next

  • Physical products: "We'll deliver to East Legon tomorrow between 12 and 4pm. Our rider will call before arriving."
  • Digital products: "Your download is ready below, and we've emailed you the link."
  • Courses: "Start lesson 1 now: [link]."
  • Bookings: "Your session is on Friday at 3pm. Add it to your calendar."

3. Offer a one-click upsell

Right after payment, offer something that makes the first purchase better:

  • Bought a course → the templates pack or group coaching
  • Bought skincare → the matching body oil at a small discount
  • Bought a phone → a case and screen guard

On Paylead, upsells appear straight after payment, and buyers can add the offer without starting over. Keep it relevant and modest: one offer, priced well below the main purchase. See order bumps and upsells explained.

4. Invite them to your community

  • "Join our buyers' WhatsApp group for tips and early access."
  • "Join the course group to ask questions."

Communities keep buyers engaged and bring repeat sales. See how to run a paid WhatsApp or Telegram group.

5. Ask for a referral

"Know someone who'd love this? Share your link and get GH₵ 20 off your next order for every friend who buys."

Or invite happy buyers to become affiliates and earn a commission. See how to start an affiliate program.

6. Ask them to follow you

"Follow us on TikTok for styling ideas: @yourstore"

A buyer who follows you sees your next launch.

7. Set expectations for reviews

"In a few days we'll send you a quick message to ask how it went. Your review helps our small business a lot."

They're more likely to reply when the message comes.

8. Give a reason to come back

  • A discount code for the next order, valid for 30 days
  • A "free delivery on your next order" voucher

See how to create discount codes.

9. Track the purchase

Your thank-you page is where your ad pixels record the sale. Make sure your Meta and TikTok pixels are connected so your ads learn who buys. Paylead also sends purchases from the server, so mobile money payments still count when the buyer closes the page. See how to track sales from Facebook, Instagram and TikTok ads.

Don't overload it

Pick the main thing for your business:

  • Selling courses or digital products? Lead with access, then one upsell.
  • Selling physical products? Lead with delivery details, then a next-order code or referral.
  • Services? Lead with the booking details, then what to prepare.

Two or three elements is plenty. Ten links on one page confuses people.

Use your own thank-you page

On Paylead, buyers see a receipt and order page after paying, with any upsells you've set up. For funnels, you can send buyers to your own page after purchase, for example a thank-you page you designed with your WhatsApp group link and next steps.

Frequently asked questions

Should every thank-you page have an upsell?

Not necessarily. Use one when there's a natural next product. A forced, unrelated offer can annoy buyers.

What's the difference between an order bump and an upsell?

An order bump is offered on the checkout page before paying; an upsell is offered after payment. See order bump vs upsell.

Can a thank-you page reduce refunds?

Yes. Clear next steps and quick access reduce confusion, which is a common reason buyers ask for refunds.
