A good quiz funnel asks 5 to 8 short questions: an easy opening question, a few about the person's situation and problem, one about what they have tried, and one about how ready they are to act. Every question should change the result or the offer. If an answer wouldn't change what you show them, cut the question.

What questions should a quiz funnel ask?
Use these five jobs as your outline.
- The opener. Easy, visual, fun to answer. "What do you sell, or want to sell?"
- The situation. Where they are now. "How long have you been selling online?"
- The problem. What is going wrong. "What is your biggest struggle?"
- The history. What they already tried. This shows what won't work for them.
- The readiness. How soon and how seriously. "When do you want to fix this?"
Then ask for their name and WhatsApp number, and show the result.
How many questions is right?
| Quiz kind | Questions | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Product match | 4 to 6 | About a minute |
| Diagnostic score | 6 to 10 | 2 to 3 minutes |
| Qualifier | 5 to 7 | About 2 minutes |
People will answer more when they are getting something back, like a score. Fewer is better when you are only matching a product.
Rules for writing good quiz questions
- One question per screen, and under 12 words if you can.
- Two to five answers, that don't overlap.
- Use your buyers' words. "My hair breaks" beats "hair fragility".
- Use picture cards for the opener. They are quick to tap on a phone.
- No leading questions. Don't make the answer you want the only sensible one.
- Ask for the phone number near the end, after they have invested in the quiz.
- Give every answer a job: points toward a result type, or a flag for a follow-up message.

What should the quiz do with the answers?
Decide this before you write the questions:
- Types of buyer: answers give points to 4 to 6 types, and each gets its own result and offer.
- Scores: answers score points, and the total shows a level and the gaps.
- Filters: a few answers decide who is a good fit for a call.
On Paylead's quiz funnel builder, each answer can give points to one or more types, and scoring questions show a gap and your fix on the result. Quiz funnels are on the Business plan. Read how to build a quiz funnel for the steps.
FAQ
What is the best first question in a quiz?
An easy, visual one about who they are or what they want. Don't start with a phone number or a hard question.
Should I ask for a phone number in the quiz?
Yes, but after most questions and before the result, with a clear reason such as "Where should we send your result?"
Can AI write my quiz questions?
It can draft them. On Paylead, the Quiz Architect reads your store, asks you a few questions and builds a plan for you to approve. Edit the wording so it sounds like your buyers.
How do I know if my questions are working?
Check where people drop off. A screen with a big drop is a screen to rewrite.
