What is a quiz funnel? How to sell more with a quiz in Ghana and Nigeria

Most sales pages say the same thing to everyone. The student and the business owner, the beginner and the person who has tried everything, all see the same headline, the same price and the same Buy button.

A quiz funnel does the opposite. It asks a few quick questions, works out what kind of buyer each person is, shows them a result written for them, then offers the product that fits them.

What a quiz funnel is

A quiz funnel is a short quiz, one question per screen, that ends in a sale. It has six parts:

  1. An opening question with big picture cards: "What do you sell, or want to sell?" or "How does your skin feel by midday?"
  2. A few easy questions about where they are and what's going wrong.
  3. Short info screens that teach one idea, so they understand why your product helps.
  4. The lead screen: "Where should we send your result?" They give their name, WhatsApp number and, if you use it, email.
  5. Their result: the type of buyer they are, and either a score with their gaps, or the products that fit them.
  6. The offer: what to buy next, picked for their type.

Done well, it feels less like a form and more like a short conversation with someone who understands their problem.

Why it works

People like answering questions about themselves. "Which one are you?" is easier to say yes to than "Buy now".

The result feels personal. "You're The Side Hustler. Here are the 3 things holding your business back" lands harder than a list of features.

You learn who your buyers are. Every answer is saved. After a few weeks you know which types of buyer come to you, which ones buy, and where people stop.

You keep the people who aren't ready yet. On a normal page, someone who doesn't buy is gone. In a quiz they've already given you their WhatsApp number before they see the offer, so you can follow up next week.

The three kinds of quiz

Kind What it does Good for
Product match Narrows your products down to the 1 to 3 that fit them Skincare, hair care, fashion, gadgets, cakes and anything with many options
Diagnostic score Gives a score out of 100 and their 3 biggest gaps, each with your fix Courses, coaching, consulting, software, anything that solves a problem
Qualifier Sends good fits to book a call, and everyone else to a smaller offer One-on-one coaching, agencies, high-priced services

A product match quiz can take about a minute. A diagnostic quiz usually takes 2 to 3 minutes, because people are happy to answer more when they're getting a score.

What a good quiz looks like

  • One question per screen, in the words your buyers use, under 12 words where possible.
  • 2 to 5 answers per question that don't overlap.
  • 4 to 6 types of buyer, named the way they'd happily describe themselves: "The Shine Fighter", "The Stuck Seller", never anything insulting.
  • The lead screen near the end, after they've answered most questions. Asking for a phone number on the first screen scares people off.
  • A result that says one true thing about them, then shows their gaps or matches.
  • An offer for their type, not your whole catalogue.

What to avoid

Some quiz funnels online use tricks. They work once and damage your name after:

  • Fake countdown timers that reset when you reload the page.
  • "Only 3 spots left" when there are no spots.
  • Made-up reviews or survey numbers ("93% of women saw results").
  • Promises your product can't keep, especially for health, beauty and money.

Use real reviews from real buyers, a real end date if you run a promo, and claims you can back up. People in Ghana and Nigeria talk to each other. Honest quizzes keep selling for years.

Is a quiz funnel right for you?

A quiz is worth building if:

  • you sell more than one product or package, or one product that helps different people in different ways;
  • people often message you asking "which one should I buy?";
  • you have followers who watch but don't buy;
  • you sell something people need to understand before they pay, like a course or coaching.

If you sell one simple product to one kind of buyer, a good sales page with an order bump may be all you need.

Build one on PayLead

Quiz funnels are part of the Business plan. You can:

  • start from a template: a coaching qualifier, a skincare product match, or the full PayLead Knowledge Seller quiz;
  • let the Quiz Architect build it: the AI reads your products, sales and reviews, asks you a few questions, shows you a plan, then builds the whole quiz for you to check;
  • sell from the result: checkout opens over the quiz, so buyers pay by Mobile Money or card without hunting for a link, with your order bump and after-payment upsell;
  • see where people stop: the insights page shows how many people reached every screen, which types of buyer you get, and who bought.
