Selar review (2027): fees, plans and the best alternatives

Selar is one of Africa's best-known platforms for selling ebooks, courses, tickets, services and physical products. It started in Nigeria, now supports 14 countries, and has a large affiliate network. Many Ghanaian creators made their first online sale on it.

This review looks at what Selar actually costs a seller in Ghana going into 2027: the fee on each cedi sale, what it costs to withdraw, how long you wait for your money, and when another platform makes more sense.

Fees, withdrawals and plans were read from Selar's pricing page, including its FAQ, on 29 October 2026. Plan prices are shown there in naira. Check the page for the latest figures.

What Selar does well

  • Sell across Africa and beyond. 14 supported countries and currencies, plus PayPal and Stripe for verified merchants on paid plans.
  • A big affiliate network. Affiliates can find and promote your products, which helps if you don't have an audience yet.
  • Many product types on the free plan: ebooks, services, physical products, subscriptions, tickets and pre-orders.
  • Course and video hosting on paid plans.
  • A well-known name that many African buyers already trust.

Where Selar costs Ghanaian sellers more

Withdrawals are expensive. Every withdrawal of cedis costs GH₵ 15, and you can't withdraw less than GH₵ 100. If you cash out twice a week, that's GH₵ 120 a month just to reach your own money. Free withdrawals exist only for naira, on the ₦ 50,000 TurboPlus plan.

You wait 4 days. Cedi sales arrive in your Selar wallet 4 days after the sale. Automatic payouts straight to a bank are only for Nigerian merchants selling in naira.

Upsells and course hosting need a paid plan, and plan prices are set in naira.

Selar vs Paylead: what you pay in a month

Paylead charges 4% + GH₵ 1 per sale on every plan, free plan included, with processing included, and GH₵ 5 per withdrawal, paid the next working day.

50 sales of GH₵ 100, 10 withdrawals Selar (Starter) Paylead (Starter)
Fees on sales GH₵ 300 GH₵ 250
Withdrawal fees GH₵ 150 GH₵ 50
Total GH₵ 450 GH₵ 300

That's GH₵ 150 a month more on Selar, or GH₵ 1,800 a year, at this volume. The more often you withdraw, the bigger the gap.

What Paylead adds for Ghanaian sellers

  • Cheaper, faster access to your money: GH₵ 5 per withdrawal to MoMo or bank, arriving the next working day.
  • Pay on delivery for physical products, with waybills and tracking.
  • AI that builds your sales page and funnels, plus order bumps, upsells and A/B tests.
  • Live and evergreen webinars with offers on screen.
  • SMS receipts and cart reminders to Ghanaian phone numbers.

Where Selar is ahead: selling to buyers in many countries and currencies, PayPal and Stripe for verified merchants, a bigger affiliate marketplace, and course video hosting. Paylead course lessons link to videos you host elsewhere, such as unlisted YouTube or Vimeo.

Verdict

Selar is a solid platform if you sell across Africa or internationally and want a large affiliate network. For sellers whose buyers are mostly in Ghana, the GH₵ 15 withdrawal fee, the GH₵ 100 minimum and the 4-day wait add up. Paylead's lower fee per sale and GH₵ 5 next-day withdrawals usually leave you with more money, sooner.
