To resell digital products in Ghana, you either buy a licence that lets you sell someone else's product (resell rights or PLR) or you join an affiliate program and earn a commission on each sale you bring. Affiliate selling is the safest route for most people, because the creator keeps ownership, delivers the product and handles support. Reselling without a clear licence is piracy, and it can get you banned or sued.
What is the difference between resell rights, PLR and affiliate selling?
| Resell rights | PLR (private label rights) | Affiliate program | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you get | Permission to sell the product as it is | Permission to edit it and often put your name on it | A tracking link |
| Who delivers it | You, usually | You | The creator |
| What you earn | The whole price you charge | The whole price you charge | A commission, a percentage or a flat amount |
| Risk | Rules vary; the licence may forbid some uses | Same, and the content may be low quality or widely copied | Low |
| Who owns it | The creator | The creator, unless the licence says otherwise | The creator |
The licence is what decides. Some licences let you sell but not give the right to resell on. Some forbid editing. Always read the exact terms.
Is it legal to resell digital products in Ghana?
It is legal to sell something you have the right to sell. It is not legal to sell a copy of someone's ebook, course or template because you got the file from a friend or a WhatsApp group. That is copyright infringement, and creators and platforms can take down stores and accounts for it. We are not lawyers, so if you are unsure about a licence, ask the creator in writing or get legal advice.
Simple rules:
- Get the licence in writing. A payment alone is not a licence.
- Check what you can change. Can you edit it? Can you rename it? Can you add your logo?
- Check where you can sell. Some licences ban marketplaces.
- Do not claim you made it if you did not.
- Never sell leaked or pirated files, including paid courses shared in groups.
Why "join reseller program" offers can be risky
You will see ads for "reseller programs" that charge a joining fee and promise daily income. Be careful:
- You pay first, with no proof that anyone earns.
- Income depends on recruiting other people, which looks like a pyramid scheme.
- The "products" are the same recycled files everywhere.
If a program pays you mostly for signing people up instead of for selling a real product to real customers, walk away. Never send MoMo to an unknown number to "activate" an account. See how to make money online in Ghana without capital.
The ethical way: sell as an affiliate
An affiliate shares a product with their audience and earns a commission when someone buys. There is nothing to buy upfront. The creator keeps the product, the customer data and the support.
Affiliate selling works best when you:
- Use the product yourself, or at least read it, before you recommend it.
- Say honestly that you earn a commission.
- Share it with people who actually need it.

How do I resell or promote digital products on Paylead?
Paylead has an affiliate marketplace. Here is how it works, from what the product does today:
- Sign up for a free Paylead account.
- Open the affiliate marketplace in the Promote area of your dashboard. It lists products whose sellers have turned on affiliates.
- Choose a product and generate your link.
- Some sellers join you straight away, and others approve affiliates first. If approval is needed, the seller approves you before your sales count.
- Share your link. When someone buys through it, your commission is recorded. It is a percentage or a flat amount, depending on what the seller set for that product.
You cannot earn commission on your own products. Paylead does not have a "resell rights" or PLR licence feature: the creator keeps ownership, and you promote the original. If you hold genuine resale or PLR rights, check your licence before you list the product in your own store.
For the seller side, see run an affiliate program and how to start an affiliate program for your products.
If you have real resale rights
If your licence allows resale, you can sell the product in your own store like any other digital product. Add your own description, a fair price and a clear refund note. Sell a digital download shows how. Online payments cost 4% + GH₵ 1 per sale, and the Starter plan is free. Resale or create your own?
Resale gives you a head start, but your income depends on someone else's product and rules. Creating a small product of your own gives you control. See how to launch a digital product in Ghana.
FAQ
What is PLR?
Private label rights: a licence that lets you edit and sell a product as your own, within the licence terms.
Can I resell an ebook I bought?
Not unless the licence says you can. Buying a copy for yourself is not the same as buying resale rights.
Is affiliate selling the same as reselling?
No. An affiliate promotes the creator's product and earns a commission. The creator delivers it.
Do I need money to join an affiliate program?
On Paylead the marketplace is free to use. Be wary of any program that charges you to join.
Can I get banned for reselling without permission?
Yes. Platforms can remove products and accounts that infringe copyright.
