How to make money online in Ghana without capital (cedis, for free)

You can make money online in Ghana without capital by selling something that costs you time, not money: a skill, a service or a digital product you make yourself. Your first cedis may take a few weeks, and the real costs are data and effort. Anyone who promises fast money for a fee is probably running a scam.

What does "without capital" really mean?

It means you do not buy stock or pay for a course first. You still need a phone, data and some days of work. Some of the best-earning options are about skill, so your first investment is practice.

Which ways can I earn with no money?

Option What you sell First step
Freelance services Design, writing, video editing, tutoring, social media help Show 3 samples
Digital products Templates, ebooks, study guides Make one small product
Affiliate selling Other people's products for a commission Share a link with people you know
Reselling Other sellers' items, pre-order style Take orders first, buy after payment
Clipping Short videos about a brand Post clips and earn per views counted
Local services online Cooking, hair, errands Post on WhatsApp status

Freelance a skill you already have

Tutoring, logo design, CV writing, Canva posts, video editing: you sell time and skill. Start with people you know. A GH₵ 150 logo or a GH₵ 50 CV is a fair beginner price. Get a testimonial from your first three clients.

Make one small digital product

A WAEC revision guide, a CV template pack, a meal plan, a Canva template set. You make it once and sell it many times. See digital products to sell in Ghana and how to launch a digital product.

Earn as an affiliate

You promote someone else's product and earn a commission on each sale you bring. You do not make the product, deliver it or handle support. Read affiliate marketing in Ghana and how to get your first affiliate sale.

Sell before you buy

If you resell items, show a picture, take the order and the payment, then buy the stock. That keeps your risk close to zero. It only works if the seller you buy from is dependable.

How long until I earn my first cedis?

Often a few weeks, if you post daily and speak to real people. In the first month, many people earn little. A first GH₵ 50 or GH₵ 100 sale is a good start. Do not quit your job or school fees budget on a promise.

How do I get paid?

Customers in Ghana want MoMo. A Paylead store lets them pay by MoMo or card on the page, and you withdraw to mobile money or a bank account. The Starter plan is free, and online payments cost 4% + GH₵ 1 per sale, taken from each sale, so you pay nothing until you sell. The smallest withdrawal is GH₵ 50, and each costs a flat GH₵ 5.

Which scams should I avoid?

Be careful with anything that does these:

  • Asks you to pay to "start earning": registration, "activation" or a starter pack.
  • Promises fixed daily returns on an investment, crypto or "trading bot".
  • Pays you to like, follow or watch and then asks for a deposit to withdraw.
  • Asks you to receive money into your MoMo and forward it. This can make you part of fraud.
  • Sends fake payment alerts so you release goods. Check your wallet, not a screenshot.
  • Wants your OTP, PIN or Ghana Card photo to "set up your account".

Rules that protect you: never pay to earn, never share your MoMo PIN or OTP, and check the business behind any offer. If it sounds too easy, it is.

A simple 30-day plan

  1. Days 1 to 3: Choose one skill or product. Write what you sell and the price.
  2. Days 4 to 7: Make 3 samples or one small product. Set up a free store page.
  3. Days 8 to 30: Post daily on WhatsApp status, Instagram and TikTok. Message 5 people a day who might need it. Ask for reviews.
