How to make money online in Ghana: 12 real ways that pay in cedis (2026)

Search "make money online in Ghana" and you will find forex signals, "investment" groups and apps that promise GH₵ 500 a day for watching videos. Most of them only make money for the person who sent you the link.

This guide is different. These are twelve ways people in Ghana really earn online in 2026, what each one needs to start, how long it usually takes to see the first cedi, and how the money reaches your mobile money wallet.

First, the rule that saves you money

Real online income comes from selling something: a product, a skill or your attention. If someone asks you to pay first so you can "unlock" earnings, recruit friends to get your money back, or send your MoMo PIN, walk away. Nobody needs your PIN to pay you.

1. Sell physical products from your phone

This is the most common online business in Ghana: clothes, hair, skincare, phone accessories, perfumes, food, shoes. You probably already know someone doing it on WhatsApp status.

  • What you need: stock (or a supplier who lets you order per sale), good photos and a way for buyers to pay and order.
  • First cedi: days, if you already have people who know you.
  • Tip: put every product on one link with prices, so buyers stop asking "how much?" in your DMs. A free online store does this, and pay on delivery helps buyers who don't trust paying upfront yet.

2. Sell digital products you make once

E-books, templates, recipe guides, CV templates, Excel trackers, Lightroom presets, study notes, beats. You make it once and sell it again and again, with no delivery rider.

  • What you need: something people want to learn or save time on, and a checkout that sends the file automatically after payment.
  • First cedi: a few weeks, while you build trust with free posts.
  • Example: a nurse sells a GH₵ 60 "Ghana nursing licensure exam" question bank. 50 sales a month is GH₵ 3,000 from a file she made once.

3. Teach what you know in an online course

If people already ask you "how do you do that?", you can teach it: makeup, baking, catering, video editing, Excel, forex basics, farming, tailoring.

  • What you need: short video lessons recorded on your phone and a course page with a player.
  • First cedi: one to two months for most people.
  • Tip: start with a small paid workshop to test demand before recording a full course.

4. Run paid webinars and workshops

A two-hour live class on Zoom or Google Meet at GH₵ 100 a seat is one of the fastest ways to earn from what you know. Twenty people is GH₵ 2,000 for an evening.

5. Freelance your skills

Graphic design, writing, video editing, social media management, web design, data entry, transcription and virtual assistance all pay, both from Ghanaian businesses and from clients abroad.

  • What you need: three to five samples of your work and one place to send clients to pay.
  • First cedi: often the first week, from people you already know.
  • Tip: take a deposit before you start. Send a payment link or an invoice instead of chasing transfers.

6. Earn commission as an affiliate

You don't need your own product. Affiliates share other people's products with their own followers and earn a commission on each sale, often 20% to 40% on digital products.

7. Sell coaching and consultation calls

Fitness coaches, career coaches, lawyers, nutritionists, business consultants and study tutors all sell paid calls. Charge per session or sell a package of four.

  • What you need: a booking page where clients pick a time and pay in one go, so nobody books and disappears.

8. Take orders for food and home kitchens

Small chops, jollof packs, pastries, sobolo, meal prep for workers. Online ordering lets you plan how much to cook, because orders and payment come in before you start.

9. Become a social media manager for small businesses

Every shop owner in Accra and Kumasi knows they should post more. Few have time. Charge a monthly fee to plan posts, design flyers and reply to comments. Three clients at GH₵ 800 a month is GH₵ 2,400.

10. Create content and sell to your audience

Brand deals are irregular. Selling your own products to your followers is not. If you have a following on TikTok or Instagram, a link in bio that sells turns views into income.

11. Resell and dropship

Buy in bulk from Makola, Kantamanto or Chinese suppliers, or partner with a supplier who ships per order, and sell online at a margin. The money is in picking the right product and showing it well.

12. Build a WhatsApp business

Your contacts are your first customers. Status updates, broadcast lists and groups still sell more in Ghana than most ads.

How the money gets to you

However you earn, you need a way for buyers to pay that doesn't depend on you checking screenshots all day:

  1. Buyers pay by mobile money or card on a checkout page: MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money, Visa or Mastercard.
  2. The money lands in your wallet with the order details, so you know who paid for what.
  3. You withdraw to your MoMo wallet or bank account.

On Paylead, the Starter plan is free. Each online sale costs 4% + GH₵ 1 with processing included (or your buyer pays it), cash on delivery orders cost 2% + GH₵ 1, and each withdrawal is a flat GH₵ 5. See pricing.

Which one should you start with?

If you have... Start with
Stock or a supplier Physical products (1, 11)
A skill people pay for Freelancing or coaching (5, 7)
Knowledge people ask you about A digital product or webinar (2, 4)
An audience but no product Affiliate marketing (6)
Time but little money Social media management or affiliates (6, 9)

Pick one. Most people who fail online try four things at once and finish none.

Frequently asked questions

What is the easiest way to make money online in Ghana?

Selling something you already have or know: a product you can source, a skill like design or writing, or a digital product such as an e-book. Affiliate marketing is easiest if you have followers but nothing to sell.

Can I make money online in Ghana without paying anything?

Yes. Freelancing, affiliate marketing and digital products can all start with your phone and free tools. Be careful with any "opportunity" that asks you to pay a registration fee before you can earn.

How do I receive money from online sales in Ghana?

Use a checkout that takes mobile money and cards, then withdraw to your MoMo wallet or bank account. On Paylead, withdrawals arrive the next working day.

How much can I earn online in Ghana?

It depends on what you sell and how many people see it. A GH₵ 60 digital product sold 50 times a month is GH₵ 3,000. A freelancer with three monthly clients at GH₵ 800 earns GH₵ 2,400. Start small and grow what works.

Are "earn money watching videos" apps in Ghana real?

Most are not. If an app pays you for doing nothing useful while asking you to recruit others or deposit money, treat it as a scam.
