Chariow review (2026): fees, payments and alternatives

Chariow is a platform for selling digital products such as ebooks, templates, courses and coaching. It charges a flat commission with no monthly fee: 15% on the Starter tier and 10% once your sales pass $5,000. It lists mobile money among its payment methods, but we could not confirm that Ghana is covered.

Checked on 4 November 2026 on Chariow's home page, its pricing page and its help centre. Its country list sits on a separate coverage page we could not read, so some points below are marked as unconfirmed.

Chariow at a glance

Tier Monthly fee Commission per sale
Starter None 15% (sales from $0 to $5,000)
Growth None 10% (sales above $5,000)
Scale None listed Custom, negotiated with Chariow

Chariow says there are no monthly, setup or cancellation fees, and that all features come on every tier. Its own example: on a €50 ebook it takes €7.50 and you receive €42.50. The pricing page does not say whether the $5,000 threshold is cumulative or measured over a period, and it does not list withdrawal fees or provider fees. Ask support before you rely on either.

What Chariow does well

  • No subscription. You pay only when you sell.
  • Digital products of many kinds: ebooks, PDFs, templates, online courses, software licences, bundles and coaching.
  • Automatic file delivery and customer management.
  • Workflows triggered by purchases, abandoned carts or sign-ups, plus integrations with tools such as Brevo, Mailchimp, Systeme.io, ActiveCampaign and WhatsApp.
  • An affiliate network where you set the commission.
  • Support in French and English, seven days a week, which suits Francophone creators in particular.
  • Quick payouts: Chariow says earnings are transferred within 72 hours of each sale.

Payments and countries

Chariow's home page lists Mobile Money, Orange Money, Wave, MTN Money, bank cards and international transfers. Its help centre says it covers more than 25 African countries for local payments, including mobile money.

What we could not confirm: Ghana is not mentioned on the pages we read. The home page cites both "47 countries" and "+150 countries" in different places, and links to a coverage page. A Chariow changelog shows countries being opened to creators one at a time, so buyer support and seller payout support may differ by country. If you are in Ghana, check the coverage page or ask Chariow whether you can sign up, accept MTN, Telecel and AirtelTigo payments, and withdraw to a Ghanaian account.

Where it may cost more

The commission is the only fee Chariow lists, and 15% is high for small sellers. Here is a GH₵ 100 sale at the Starter rate, next to Paylead:

Chariow Starter Paylead Starter
Platform fee GH₵ 15.00 (15%) GH₵ 2.00 + GH₵ 1.00
Processing Not listed separately Included (2%)
You keep About GH₵ 85.00 GH₵ 95.00

On 100 sales of GH₵ 100, the commission alone is GH₵ 1,500 on Chariow Starter against GH₵ 500 on Paylead. Chariow's rate drops to 10% above $5,000 in sales, which would still be GH₵ 1,000 on the same volume. Paylead charges 4% + GH₵ 1 on every plan, with a GH₵ 5 withdrawal fee. Chariow's currency handling and any withdrawal fee may change the picture, so treat these as estimates.

Chariow vs Paylead

Chariow Paylead
Focus Digital products, across Africa and beyond Ghana-first, digital and physical
Fee 15%, then 10% 4% + GH₵ 1
Ghana MoMo Not confirmed MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money
Pay on delivery Not listed Yes, 2% + GH₵ 1
Payout Within 72 hours Next working day, GH₵ 5 each

Paylead is for sellers in Ghana only today, and Nigeria is planned. If you sell to Francophone West Africa, Chariow's coverage and French support may count for more.

Who Chariow suits

Chariow suits creators who sell digital products, want no monthly bill, need French-language support or sell across several African countries, and have confirmed their own country is covered. It is harder to recommend to a Ghanaian seller until Ghana support is clear.
