Selling digital products in Ghana can cost nothing to start, then roughly 4% to 10% of each sale in fees depending on the platform, plus a withdrawal fee. On Paylead, 50 ebooks at GH₵ 50 cost GH₵ 155 in fees. On Selar they cost about GH₵ 190, and on Skillspad's free plan GH₵ 251, with buyers paying 2% more at checkout.
Competitor fees below were checked on Selar's own pages on 29 October 2026 and Skillspad's on 4 November 2026. Fees change, so confirm before you decide. Optional costs like domains and Canva were not checked today, so we give no prices for them.
The costs to expect
- Platform fee on each sale.
- Payment processing, sometimes included, sometimes added on top.
- Withdrawal fee each time you move money to MoMo or a bank.
- Monthly plan, if you choose a paid one.
- Optional extras: a domain name, design tools such as Canva Pro, and ads.
What each platform charges
| Paylead | Selar | Skillspad | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fee per sale | 4% + GH₵ 1, processing included | 5% + GH₵ 1 | 10% on free plan (6% on GH₵ 230 plan); buyers pay 2% processing on top |
| Withdrawal | GH₵ 5, from GH₵ 50 | GH₵ 15, GH₵ 100 minimum | GH₵ 1 to MoMo |
| Monthly plan | Free; Pro GH₵ 149; Business GH₵ 399 | Not checked | Free; GH₵ 230 and up |
| Cedi sales reach you | Next working day | 4 days after the sale | Not checked |
Worked example 1: ebooks at GH₵ 50
Fee per ebook:
- Paylead: 4% of 50 = GH₵ 2, plus GH₵ 1 = GH₵ 3
- Selar: 5% of 50 = GH₵ 2.50, plus GH₵ 1 = GH₵ 3.50
- Skillspad free plan: 10% of 50 = GH₵ 5, and the buyer pays GH₵ 51
Total cost in a month, assuming one withdrawal:
| Ebooks sold | Revenue | Paylead | Selar | Skillspad (free plan) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | GH₵ 500 | 30 + 5 = GH₵ 35 | 35 + 15 = GH₵ 50 | 50 + 1 = GH₵ 51 |
| 50 | GH₵ 2,500 | 150 + 5 = GH₵ 155 | 175 + 15 = GH₵ 190 | 250 + 1 = GH₵ 251 |
| 200 | GH₵ 10,000 | 600 + 5 = GH₵ 605 | 700 + 15 = GH₵ 715 | 1,000 + 1 = GH₵ 1,001 |
At 200 ebooks, Skillspad's GH₵ 230 plan changes the picture: 6% of 50 = GH₵ 3 each, so 600 + 230 plan + 1 withdrawal = GH₵ 831. Paylead is still lower, and these Skillspad figures leave out the 2% its buyers pay on top.
The flat GH₵ 1 matters on cheap products. On a GH₵ 50 ebook it is 2 points of the price, which is why Paylead's effective rate is 6% here.
Worked example 2: a GH₵ 300 course
Fee per sale:
- Paylead: 4% of 300 = GH₵ 12, plus GH₵ 1 = GH₵ 13
- Selar: 5% of 300 = GH₵ 15, plus GH₵ 1 = GH₵ 16
- Skillspad: the free plan does not include course uploads, so use the GH₵ 230 plan: 6% of 300 = GH₵ 18, plus the plan, and the buyer pays GH₵ 6 more
Ten course sales in a month (GH₵ 3,000):
| Fees | Withdrawal | Plan | Total | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paylead (free plan) | 130 | 5 | 0 | GH₵ 135 |
| Selar | 160 | 15 | 0 | GH₵ 175 |
| Skillspad (GH₵ 230 plan) | 180 | 1 | 230 | GH₵ 411 |
Skillspad's rate falls on its higher plans, so heavy sellers should run the numbers for their own volume.
Does the plan on Paylead matter?
You can sell on the free Starter plan, which has 1 live funnel and 150 contacts. Pro (GH₵ 149 a month) removes those limits and Paylead branding. The per-sale fee stays 4% + GH₵ 1 on every plan. Pay for Pro only when you need more funnels or contacts, not to get a lower fee.
You can also switch the fee to the buyer at checkout. Then you keep the full GH₵ 50 or GH₵ 300.
Optional costs
- Domain name: a .com is billed yearly by a registrar such as Namecheap. Prices vary and promotions change, so check the registrar's page. Paylead's Business plan (GH₵ 399 a month) lets you use your own domain, but you do not need one to start.
- Canva Pro: useful for covers and mockups, but the free version of Canva is enough to start. Check Canva's pricing page for the current price.
- Ads: entirely your choice. Start with a small daily budget and stop if the cost per sale beats your profit.
None of these is required to make your first sale.
