Is Paylead legit? Who runs it, where it is based and how payouts work

Paylead is a real online selling platform for creators and small businesses in Ghana, founded in 2026 in Accra by Nana Asiamah, and run by a team in Accra. Sellers get a store, checkout, payment links and invoices, and withdraw their sales to MoMo or a bank account. You should still check any platform yourself, so this page lists what we state publicly and where you can verify it.

We have tried to be plain. We do not publish things here that we cannot back up, and we do not quote user numbers.

Who runs Paylead and where is it located?

Per our About page:

  • Paylead was founded in 2026 in Accra, Ghana by Nana Asiamah, a Ghanaian entrepreneur and founder of Wura Group (MediaWura, MachineWura, Sneakers Inn).
  • Bundana leads engineering as Tech Lead, and previously worked with Nana on Pollvite, an e-voting and event management platform.
  • Our public facts page describes Paylead as run by a team in Accra. There is no separate overseas headquarters on that page.

You can reach the team on the contact page, by email or WhatsApp. We do not list a street address or company registration number in our public facts, so if you need those for your own due diligence, ask the team directly.

Is Paylead free? What does it cost?

Starter is free. Pro is GH₵ 149 a month and Business is GH₵ 399, and Pro and Business start with a 14-day free trial. Every online sale costs 4% + GH₵ 1, with payment processing included. Pay on delivery costs 2% + GH₵ 1. Withdrawals cost a flat GH₵ 5. These figures are on the pricing page and the facts page, which is the one place we keep fees, plans and limits current. More in what is Paylead.

How do payouts work?

Every sale goes into your Paylead wallet:

  1. You set up the MoMo wallet or Ghanaian bank account you want to be paid into. It should be in your name or your business's name.
  2. Sales you make today show as Money on its way, and become withdrawable by 03:00 the next morning.
  3. You withdraw from Finance. The smallest withdrawal is GH₵ 50, it costs GH₵ 5, and it arrives the next working day.
  4. Cash on delivery orders count once you mark them delivered and paid.

Details are in payouts and withdrawals. If a withdrawal does not arrive, the Help button in your dashboard has a "My withdrawal hasn't arrived" option, and you can also contact us.

What about my buyers' payments?

Buyers pay with MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money, or a Visa or Mastercard card. They pay on a checkout page with your store's name, and get a receipt by email, and by SMS when they leave a number. On orders paid on delivery, you collect the cash yourself.

How can I check that Paylead works before I trust it?

Do your own checks. We would want you to.

  1. Start on the free plan. There is no card needed to open an account, so you can set up a store without paying anything.
  2. Test a small sale. Sell a GH₵ 5 item to yourself and withdraw it. You will see the fees, the timing and the receipt first hand.
  3. Read the legal pages. The terms and privacy policy set out what we agree to.
  4. Look at the status page. Paylead status shows how the service is running right now.
  5. Read the changelog. The changelog shows what changed and when.
  6. Ask the team. Use the contact page and see how quickly and clearly they answer.

What is "Paylee alerts"?

Some searchers write "Paylee" or "Paylee alerts". We do not know of a product by that exact name. If you mean notifications from Paylead, sellers can choose which alerts they get, for example when a sale comes in, in the dashboard: see notification settings. If you received a message from someone claiming to be Paylead and you are unsure, do not send money or share a PIN. Contact us through the official contact page and we will tell you if it is genuine.

Red flags to watch for with any online platform

  • Anyone asking you to send MoMo to a personal number to "activate" an account.
  • Promises of guaranteed income.
  • No contact details, terms or privacy policy.
  • No way to test with a small amount first.

Our guides on how to stop fake MoMo payment screenshots and protecting your business from payment disputes cover what to watch for as a seller.
