What is Paylead? What it is used for, who it is for and how much it costs

Paylead is an online selling platform for creators and small businesses in Ghana. It gives you a store, checkout, sales pages, payment links, invoices and follow-up emails and texts in one account, so you can sell and get paid by MoMo or card without building a website. It is free to start. Online sales cost 4% + GH₵ 1 each.

What is Paylead used for?

People use Paylead to:

  • Sell digital products: ebooks, templates, presets, music and downloads that deliver themselves after payment. See how to sell digital products in Ghana.

It is a poor fit if you only sell to buyers in dollars and do not need MoMo or local payouts.

With MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money, or a Visa or Mastercard card. Physical products can also be paid on delivery. See how to accept mobile money payments online in Ghana.

What does Paylead charge per sale? (How much is paid)

People often search "how much is paid", meaning how much a seller receives. Here is what comes off each sale:

How the buyer pays Fee
MoMo or card, online 4% + GH₵ 1, processing included
Pay on delivery 2% + GH₵ 1
Withdrawal GH₵ 5 each, from GH₵ 50

Example: you sell a GH₵ 200 ebook online. The fee is GH₵ 8 + GH₵ 1 = GH₵ 9, so GH₵ 191 reaches your wallet. If you turn on Customer pays transaction charges, the buyer covers the fee and you receive the full GH₵ 200. These rules are the same on every plan.

You also earn Paylead Credit back on sale fees, which can pay for your plan and SMS.

How do I get paid?

Sales appear in your wallet. Today's sales show as Money on its way and become withdrawable by 03:00 the next morning. You withdraw to MoMo or a Ghanaian bank account, and it arrives the next working day. See payouts and withdrawals.

How is Paylead different from a normal website?

A website needs hosting, a payment setup and a lot of design work. Paylead gives you a ready store with checkout, MoMo and delivery handling, then lets you add pages and funnels on top. You can also connect your own domain on the Business plan.
