Best Shopify alternatives in Ghana (2026)

The best Shopify alternatives for sellers in Ghana are Paylead, WooCommerce with a Ghanaian payment plugin, Wix with Paystack, Selar for digital products, and Hubtel's webstore. Paylead is the one with mobile money built in and no monthly bill on the free plan. Shopify still works in Ghana, but you have to connect a third-party payment provider to take MoMo.

Competitor facts in this post were checked on their own sites and help pages on 4 November 2026. Prices and features change, so confirm on their sites before you pay.

Shopify's situation in Ghana

Shopify Payments is its own payment system. Shopify's list of supported countries does not include Ghana, and it says sellers elsewhere need a third-party payment provider.

Paystack has published a guide to collecting payments on a Shopify store in Ghana. It describes cards and mobile money. Check Paystack's own page for the networks and rates that apply to your account.

On Shopify's pricing page, Basic is $19 a month on yearly billing or $27 on monthly billing. Using a third-party payment provider adds a Shopify fee of 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced. The plans are priced in dollars. For more on this, read using Shopify in Ghana.

Shopify does well at large catalogues, many themes and a big app store. If you ship worldwide, it is a strong tool.

Hubtel webstore Sellers already using Hubtel Hubtel is a Ghanaian payments company Check Hubtel for current terms

Sources: WooCommerce Paystack plugin and Wix's Paystack page. We could not confirm Hubtel's webstore terms from a current Hubtel page, so look at hubtel.com before you decide. We also could not confirm that Bumpa serves Ghana: its site shows prices in naira and does not mention Ghana.

What it costs: 100 sales of GH₵ 100

That is GH₵ 10,000 in sales a month.

  • Paylead: 4% + GH₵ 1 = GH₵ 400 + GH₵ 100 = GH₵ 500. Card and MoMo processing is included, and the plan is free.
  • Shopify Basic: the 2% third-party fee is GH₵ 200. On top of that you pay the plan in dollars, the payment provider's own fee on each sale, and any paid apps.

Paylead's fee covers processing, so the real comparison is Paylead's GH₵ 500 against Shopify's GH₵ 200 plus the provider fee plus the plan. Ask your provider for its rate and add it up for your own volume.

Paylead also lets you pass its fee to the buyer, so you keep 100% of your price. Withdrawals are GH₵ 5 each, from GH₵ 50, paid the next working day.

What Paylead adds

  • A free store, sales pages and checkout in one account.
  • Physical products with pay on delivery (2% + GH₵ 1), digital products, courses, bookings and subscriptions.
  • Order bumps, upsells, coupons and email and SMS follow-ups. See order bumps and upsells explained.
  • Plans from free (1 live funnel, 150 contacts) to Pro at GH₵ 149 a month and Business at GH₵ 399 a month, which adds your own domain and 5 staff accounts.

Where it is not the right fit: Paylead is for sellers in Ghana today. If you need a huge catalogue or many sales channels abroad, Shopify has more depth.

Who each one suits

  • Shopify: large catalogues, worldwide selling, a budget for apps.
  • WooCommerce: you already run WordPress and want full control.
  • Wix: a simple brochure site with a few products.
  • Selar: you only sell digital products. See Selar fees explained.
  • Paylead: you sell to Ghanaian buyers who pay by MoMo and you want one tool without paying monthly first.
