To make money from a podcast in Ghana, ask listeners for support, offer paid extras to your biggest fans, and sell products or events that fit your show. On Paylead, listeners tip by MoMo or card from your tip page, members pay a monthly subscription (Pro), and live shows and products sell from the same store.
Five ways podcasters get paid
- Listener support. A tip page link in every episode description: how to accept tips.
- A members' club. Bonus episodes, early access or a private group, as a monthly subscription (Pro). Members get a link after every payment.
- Live shows and meetups. Tickets with a limit: how to sell event tickets.
- Products from your expertise. A guide, a course or a workshop on your podcast's topic: how to sell your knowledge online.
- Merch. T-shirts and mugs with pay on delivery: add a physical product.
Step by step: listener support
- Create your free Paylead account.
- Set up your tip page in Store Settings → General: set up your tip page.
- Read the link out in each episode and put it in the description.
- Add a floating Support me button to your website: add a tip button.
Make the ask work
- Say what the money pays for: equipment, studio time, guests' transport.
- Thank supporters by name on air (with their permission).
- Give members something real: a bonus episode every week beats a vague "exclusive content".
What it costs
The Starter plan is free; subscriptions need Pro (GH₵ 149 a month). Each payment costs 4% + GH₵ 1: a GH₵ 20 tip costs GH₵ 1.80.
