You've written the ebook. Now you need somewhere that lets a reader in Kumasi pay with MoMo at midnight and get the PDF straight away, while you sleep.
Plenty of platforms will take your ebook. Far fewer work well for Ghanaian buyers paying in cedis by mobile money. This guide compares eight options on the things that decide how much you keep and how many readers actually finish paying.
Fees for other platforms were checked on their own websites on 12 October 2026. Fees change, so check each pricing page before you decide.
What to look for in an ebook platform
- Mobile money at checkout. Most Ghanaian readers pay with MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash or AirtelTigo Money, not cards. If MoMo isn't there, many of them won't buy.
- Instant, automatic delivery. The reader pays and gets the file by email in seconds, without you sending it by hand.
- Protection for your file. Download links that expire or allow a limited number of downloads, so one buyer can't share the link with a whole WhatsApp group.
- Fees in cedis that make sense. A percentage plus a small fixed fee is normal. Watch out for dollar subscriptions that rise with the exchange rate.
- Cheap, quick payouts. Withdrawal fees add up if you cash out every week.
- Tools to sell more: coupons, bundles, order bumps, affiliates and reminders for people who started checkout and left.
- A sales page that does the convincing, because most readers decide on their phone in under a minute.
Quick comparison
| Platform | Monthly fee | Fee on a GH₵ 50 ebook | MoMo for buyers | Withdrawal |

| Paylead | Free, or GH₵ 149 / 399 | GH₵ 3 (4% + GH₵ 1) | Yes | GH₵ 5, next working day |
| Selar | None | GH₵ 3.50 (5% + GH₵ 1) | Yes | GH₵ 15 |
| Vendblue | Free plan available | GH₵ 3 + a fixed fee (6% + fixed) | Check their site | Check their site |
| Gumroad | None | GH₵ 5 + $0.50 (10% + $0.50) | Check their site | Mostly PayPal outside the US |
| Amazon KDP | None | You keep a 35% or 70% royalty | No, Amazon's own checkout | Paid about 60 days after the month ends |
| Paystack Storefront | None | About GH₵ 0.98 (1.95%) | Yes | Settled to your bank |
| Flutterwave Store | None | GH₵ 1 by MoMo (2%) | Yes | 1.5% to MoMo, GH₵ 10 to bank |
| WhatsApp + MoMo | None | MoMo charges only | Yes | Already in your wallet |
Fees are per sale, before any withdrawal fee. The cheapest per-sale fee is not always the cheapest option once you add delivery, payouts and the sales you lose to a clumsy checkout.
1. Paylead
Best for: Ghanaian authors who want MoMo, instant delivery and selling tools in one place, starting free.
Paylead is built for selling in Ghana. You upload your PDF or EPUB, set a price, and get a sales page and a checkout that takes MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money and Visa or Mastercard.
- Instant delivery: buyers get a download link by email straight after paying, with an SMS receipt.
- File protection: set how many times a link can be used and when it expires.
- Pricing options: fixed price, pay what you want, sale prices and discount codes.
- Sell more per buyer: bundles (ebook + workbook + templates), an order bump at checkout, upsells after payment, and affiliates who earn a cut for each sale they bring.
- Win back lost sales: automatic reminders to people who started checkout and didn't finish.
- A sales page in minutes: describe your book and the AI writes the page; you edit anything.
- Sell on your own website too: add a buy button to any site, including WordPress.
Fees: free to start. 4% + GH₵ 1 per sale on every plan, payment processing included, or switch on "buyer pays the fee" and keep 100% of the price. Withdrawals to MoMo or bank cost GH₵ 5 and arrive the next working day.
Watch out for: Paylead is focused on Ghana and nearby markets. If most of your readers are in Europe or America, a platform with more international payment methods may suit you better.

2. Selar
Best for: authors selling to readers in many countries.
Selar is one of the best-known creator platforms in Africa. It has no monthly fee, supports many currencies and international payment methods including mobile money, and has a large affiliate marketplace.
- Fees: 5% + GH₵ 1 per cedi sale, and GH₵ 15 per withdrawal.
- Strengths: international reach, many currencies, an established affiliate network.
- Watch out for: withdrawals cost three times as much as on Paylead. That matters if you cash out often.

3. Vendblue
Best for: creators who sell in several African currencies.
Vendblue sells digital downloads, courses, bundles, merch and memberships, with prices in more than a dozen currencies.
- Fees: a free Basic plan (up to 10 listings) and a paid Premium plan. On cedi sales, Vendblue lists 6% plus a fixed amount per sale.
- Strengths: many African currencies on one account, memberships and courses alongside downloads.
- Watch out for: the highest percentage on this list for cedi sales, and the free plan caps you at 10 products. Check which payment methods your buyers will see.
See Vendblue's pricing.
4. Gumroad
Best for: authors whose readers are mostly outside Africa.
Gumroad is simple, global and well known, with a marketplace where readers can discover your book.
- Fees: 10% + $0.50 on direct sales, plus card processing.
- Watch out for: buyers pay by card or PayPal, and creators outside the US are mostly paid through PayPal. For a GH₵ 50 ebook, the fixed $0.50 alone takes a big bite.
Read our Paylead vs Gumroad comparison.
5. Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP)
Best for: reaching readers worldwide on Kindle.
KDP puts your book in the Kindle store, where millions of readers already shop.
- Earnings: a royalty of 35% or 70% of the list price, depending on how you price.
- Strengths: discovery and credibility. Your book sits next to traditionally published titles.
- Watch out for: Ghanaian readers can't pay with MoMo, Amazon sets the rules, and you don't get your buyers' emails. Payments arrive about two months after the month of the sale, and you should check whether your Ghanaian bank can receive them.
Many authors use both: Kindle for international readers, and their own store for readers in Ghana.
6. Paystack Storefront
Best for: sellers who already use Paystack and want the lowest per-sale fee.
Paystack lets you set up a simple storefront and payment pages. Its standard fee for local payments in Ghana is 1.95% for cards, mobile money and bank transfer.
- Strengths: a very low fee from a trusted payment company.
- Watch out for: Paystack is a payment company, not a creator platform. Check how files are delivered after payment, and expect to do without download limits, affiliates, upsells and cart reminders.
7. Flutterwave Store
Best for: sellers already on Flutterwave.
Flutterwave offers a free online store. In Ghana it charges 2% on mobile money, 2.6% on local cards and 4.8% on international cards. Payouts cost 1.5% to mobile money or GH₵ 10 to a bank.
- Strengths: low payment fees, and international cards.
- Watch out for: like Paystack, it is built for payments rather than ebooks. Check how it delivers digital files. Its payout fee also takes 1.5% of every withdrawal to MoMo.
See Flutterwave's Ghana pricing.
8. WhatsApp and a MoMo number
Best for: your very first few sales.
Plenty of Ghanaian authors start by posting the cover on their status and sending the PDF after a MoMo transfer.
- Costs: only your MoMo charges.
- Watch out for: you have to confirm every payment and send every file yourself, often late at night. Screenshots get faked, files get forwarded, and you have no list of buyers to sell your next book to. It works for 10 sales but not for 500. Read how to sell digital products on WhatsApp without the stress.
Example: what 100 sales of a GH₵ 50 ebook cost you
Say you sell 100 copies in a month and withdraw four times.
- Paylead (free plan): 100 × GH₵ 3 = GH₵ 300, plus 4 × GH₵ 5 = GH₵ 20. GH₵ 320 in total. Or GH₵ 20 if your buyers pay the fee.
- Selar: 100 × GH₵ 3.50 = GH₵ 350, plus 4 × GH₵ 15 = GH₵ 60. GH₵ 410 in total.
- Gumroad: 100 × (GH₵ 5 + $0.50) is about GH₵ 500 plus $50, before card processing and PayPal fees.
Based on each platform's published fees on 12 October 2026. Your numbers depend on your plan, your price and how often you withdraw.
How to choose
- Your readers are in Ghana and pay with MoMo: choose a platform built for MoMo with instant delivery, like Paylead.
- Your readers are all over the world: Selar or Gumroad, and consider Kindle too.
- You want the lowest fee per sale and can handle delivery yourself: Paystack or Flutterwave.
- You'll sell more than one product: pick a platform with bundles, upsells and affiliates from the start, so you don't have to move later.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best platform to sell ebooks in Ghana?
For readers in Ghana who pay by mobile money, choose a platform with MoMo checkout, instant delivery and low cedi fees. Paylead is free to start and charges 4% + GH₵ 1 per sale. Selar suits authors selling internationally. Amazon KDP gives you worldwide reach on Kindle.
Can I sell an ebook in Ghana without a website?
Yes. Platforms like Paylead give you a sales page and a link you can share on WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok and X. You don't need your own website or a developer.
How do buyers receive the ebook after paying?
On Paylead, the buyer gets a download link by email immediately after paying, plus an SMS receipt. You choose how many downloads each link allows and when it expires.
How do I stop people sharing my ebook?
You can't stop it completely, but download links with limits and an expiry date make sharing much harder than sending the PDF on WhatsApp. Adding the buyer's name inside the book and offering updates to paying buyers also helps.
Do I need to register a business to sell ebooks in Ghana?
You can start selling without one. Registering helps when you want a business bank account or to grow. See how to register a business in Ghana.
How much should I charge for an ebook in Ghana?
Ebooks and detailed guides usually sell for GH₵ 30 to GH₵ 150. A short, specific guide that gets the reader a clear result can charge more than a long book of general tips. Read how to price digital products in Ghana.
