8 best ecommerce platforms to start an online store in Ghana (2026)

Selling clothes, skincare, food, phones or hair in Ghana? Then your online store has two jobs. It has to take payment the way Ghanaians actually pay, by mobile money and cash on delivery, and it has to get the right item to the right address without a pile of WhatsApp messages.

This guide compares eight ways to sell physical products online in Ghana, from full store builders to marketplaces and payment pages.

Fees for other platforms were checked on their own websites on 12 October 2026. Fees change, so check each pricing page before you decide.

What a Ghanaian online store needs

  1. Mobile money at checkout: MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash and AirtelTigo Money, plus cards.
  2. Pay on delivery. Many buyers won't pay upfront for clothes or electronics from a shop they don't know yet. Offering cash on delivery can be the difference between a sale and no sale.
  3. Variants and stock. Sizes, colours and shades, each with its own price and stock count, so you never sell something you don't have.
  4. Delivery fees that make sense: a flat fee, free delivery above an amount, or different fees by area.
  5. Order management: clear statuses, packing slips for your rider, and updates to buyers so they stop asking "where is my order?".
  6. A store that looks good on a phone, because that's where your buyers shop.
  7. Costs in cedis, with no dollar subscription eating your margin before you've made a sale.

1. Paylead

Best for: Ghanaian shops that want MoMo, pay on delivery and order management in one place, starting free.

Paylead gives you a store, product pages and a checkout built for Ghana, with nothing extra to install.

  • Payments: MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash, AirtelTigo Money, Visa and Mastercard, plus pay on delivery that you switch on in your store settings.
  • Variants and stock: each size or colour has its own price and stock, and sales stop automatically when an item runs out.
  • Delivery fees: a flat fee, and free delivery above an amount you choose.
  • Orders: print a packing slip for each order and hand it to your rider. Buyers get an email confirmation, and an SMS when they leave a number, with the amount to pay the rider on cash orders. They can track their order and pick a new delivery day if they won't be home.
  • Sell more: discount codes, order bumps, upsells, reminders to people who left checkout, and affiliates who promote your products.
  • Ads that work: connect your Meta and TikTok pixels so your ads learn who buys.
  • Sell more than physical products: add digital products, bookings or courses to the same store later.

Fees: free to start. 4% + GH₵ 1 per online payment, processing included, or the buyer pays it. Cash on delivery orders cost 2% + GH₵ 1. Withdrawals to MoMo or bank cost GH₵ 5 and arrive the next working day. Use your own domain on the Business plan.

Watch out for: Paylead is built for selling in Ghana. If you ship mostly to Europe or America, a global store builder may suit you better.

2. Shopify

Best for: large catalogues and brands selling worldwide.

Shopify is the world's biggest store builder, with thousands of themes and apps.

  • Cost: from $27 a month on Basic with monthly billing.
  • Payments in Ghana: Shopify Payments isn't available in Ghana, so you add a payment app such as Paystack. Shopify then charges an extra 2% on Basic on top of that app's fee.
  • Watch out for: a dollar bill every month before your first sale, and extra apps for things like WhatsApp updates or delivery fees by area.

3. WooCommerce (WordPress)

Best for: sellers who already have a WordPress site, or a developer.

WooCommerce is a free plugin that turns a WordPress site into a store. You add Paystack, Hubtel or another gateway for MoMo.

  • Cost: the plugin is free, but you pay for hosting, a domain, often a premium theme, and your gateway's fees.
  • Strengths: full control, and it lives on your own website.
  • Watch out for: you look after updates, security and backups, and when checkout breaks at 9pm on a Friday, it's your job to fix it. If you want WordPress without the work, you can add Paylead buy buttons to WordPress instead.

4. Jiji

Best for: being found by buyers already searching for a product.

Jiji is Ghana's biggest classifieds marketplace. Listing is free, and you can pay for boosts and top placement.

  • Strengths: lots of buyers, especially for phones, electronics, cars and furniture.
  • Watch out for: there's no checkout. You agree payment and delivery with each buyer yourself, you compete with sellers listed right next to you, and the customer belongs to Jiji, not to you. Read selling on Jiji vs your own online store.

5. Vendblue

Best for: creators adding merch to digital products.

Vendblue sells merch alongside downloads, courses and memberships, in many African currencies.

  • Fees: a free Basic plan (up to 10 listings) and a paid Premium plan. On cedi sales, 6% plus a fixed amount per sale.
  • Watch out for: it's built for creators more than shops. Check delivery options, stock management and whether buyers can pay on delivery.

See Vendblue's pricing.

6. Paystack Storefront

Best for: a simple catalogue for sellers who already use Paystack.

Paystack's storefront lets you list products and take payment. Its standard local fee in Ghana is 1.95% for cards, mobile money and bank transfer.

  • Strengths: a low fee from a trusted payment company.
  • Watch out for: it is a payment tool first. Check what it offers for delivery fees, stock, pay on delivery and order updates before you rely on it for a busy shop.

7. Flutterwave Store

Best for: sellers already on Flutterwave who want international cards.

Flutterwave offers a free online store. In Ghana it charges 2% on mobile money, 2.6% on local cards and 4.8% on international cards. Payouts cost 1.5% to MoMo or GH₵ 10 to a bank.

  • Watch out for: like Paystack, it's a payment company's store. Check its delivery and order features, and add the payout fee to your costs.

See Flutterwave's Ghana pricing.

8. Instagram or WhatsApp, with a MoMo number

Best for: testing whether people want your product.

Most Ghanaian shops start here: post on your status or page, take orders in DMs, and collect MoMo.

  • Costs: only MoMo charges.
  • Watch out for: every order is a conversation. You confirm payments by screenshot, type out addresses, and lose buyers who message at 2am. Once you're getting more than a few orders a day, a store link saves hours. Read how to sell on Instagram and WhatsApp without DMs.

Example: the real cost of 50 orders a month

Fifty orders of GH₵ 300, with 4 withdrawals:

  • Paylead (free plan), all paid online: 50 × GH₵ 13 = GH₵ 650, plus 4 × GH₵ 5 = GH₵ 20. GH₵ 670. Or GH₵ 20 if buyers pay the fee.
  • Paylead, all cash on delivery: 50 × GH₵ 7 = GH₵ 350, with no withdrawal needed for the cash.
  • Shopify Basic with a payment app: $27 a month, plus 50 × 2% of GH₵ 300 = GH₵ 300 to Shopify, plus the payment app's own fee on every order.

Based on each platform's published fees on 12 October 2026.

How to choose
