For many Ghanaian creators, WhatsApp is where the money is. Your status is seen by people who already know you, and a broadcast lands right next to their family chats.
But selling digital products on WhatsApp by hand is exhausting: "How much?", "Send your MoMo number", "I've sent it, check", "Please resend the file, I deleted it." Multiply that by 50 buyers and you've lost a weekend.
This guide shows how to sell on WhatsApp while a checkout handles payment and delivery for you.
The setup: WhatsApp for attention, a link for the sale
- WhatsApp is where you talk, teach and post.
- One product link is where people pay and receive the product.
When someone says "I want it", send the link instead of your number. They pay by MoMo or card, and the e-book, template, course access or webinar link arrives automatically on the receipt page and by email. They can find it again in My purchases if they lose it.
On Paylead, digital downloads, courses, webinars and bookings all deliver themselves after payment. See how to sell digital products in Ghana.
Selling on WhatsApp status
Status is your daily shop window. A simple weekly plan:
- Monday – the problem: "Most people fail the licensure exam because they read everything and practise nothing."
- Tuesday – a free tip: one useful thing from your product.
- Wednesday – proof: a buyer's message or result (with permission).
- Thursday – the product: cover image, price, what's inside, and the link.
- Friday – behind the scenes: you making it, a student's question, a funny moment.
- Weekend – the reminder: "Launch price ends Sunday. Link here."
Tips: add the link as text on the status (people can tap it), keep videos short, and post at times your contacts are on their phones.
Selling with broadcast lists
Broadcast lists reach people one by one, so messages feel personal. Only people who have saved your number will receive them.
- Segment: separate lists for past buyers, interested people and new contacts.
- Write like a person: "Hi! I just finished the CV template pack I told you about. It's GH₵ 49 this week. Here's the link: …"
- Don't spam. One or two broadcasts a week is plenty.
Selling in WhatsApp groups and communities
- Teach first. Answer questions in the group so people see you know your stuff.
- Ask the admin before posting offers, or partner with them as an affiliate.
- Run a short "masterclass" inside the group, then share the link to your full product or paid class.
Use WhatsApp Business properly
- Add your store link to your business profile.
- Use the catalogue to show products, with each one linking to its checkout page.
- Set quick replies for common questions: "Here's the link to pay and download: …"
- Use an away message that includes your link, so night-time buyers can still buy.
Answer the questions buyers ask
Put these answers on your product page and in a quick reply:
- "How will I receive it?" "Right after paying, you'll get the download link on screen and by email."
- "Can I pay with Telecel Cash or AirtelTigo?" "Yes, all networks and cards."
- "Is it a hard copy?" "No, it's a PDF you can read on your phone."
- "What if I lose it?" "You can download it again from My purchases."
Recover people who don't finish paying
Network drops and low balances happen. With automatic cart reminders, people who start checkout but don't pay get a reminder by SMS and email, bringing many of them back without you chasing anyone.
Sell more to the people who buy
- Order bump at checkout: "Add the bonus templates for GH₵ 20."
- Upsell after payment: the course that goes deeper.
- Follow up later: a new product for past buyers, sent to your buyers list.

Frequently asked questions
How do I sell e-books on WhatsApp?
Post about the e-book on your status and broadcasts, and share a product link where buyers pay by MoMo or card. The e-book is delivered automatically after payment.
How do I send digital products automatically after payment?
Use a checkout that delivers files for you. On Paylead, buyers get the download link on the receipt page and by email, and can find it later in My purchases.
Can I sell a paid class on WhatsApp?
Yes. Sell seats with a webinar product or a payment link, then run the class on Zoom, Google Meet or in a WhatsApp group for paying members.
How often should I post my product on WhatsApp status?
Daily posts about the topic are fine, but only one or two direct "buy now" posts a week. Mix teaching, proof and offers.
Do I need WhatsApp Business?
It helps, with a catalogue, quick replies and away messages, but you can start with regular WhatsApp and a product link.
