Social media reach goes up and down. Your email list doesn't. If an app changes its rules in 2027, the people on your list can still hear from you, and email is still one of the cheapest ways to bring a buyer back.
This guide compares six email marketing tools for sellers and creators in Ghana, on free plans, real costs and one thing most comparisons skip: does the tool know who bought what?
Plans and prices were checked on each company's website in October 2026 where they were shown. Prices change, so check before you sign up.
What to look for
- A free plan big enough to start, and a sensible price as your list grows.
- Billing that doesn't swing with the dollar. A $13 plan costs more cedis every time the exchange rate moves.
- Your sales data. Sending "the next step" to everyone who bought your ebook is far easier when the email tool and the store are connected.
- Automations: a welcome email, a follow-up after a sale, a reminder before a webinar.
- Templates that look good on a phone, because that is where most of your list reads.
- Your own sending domain, so your emails land in the inbox.

1. Paylead
Best for: sellers and creators who already sell on Paylead, or want their store and email in one place.
Email campaigns are part of your Paylead account. Every buyer, subscriber and form lead goes into your contacts, tagged by what they did, for example bought:ebook.
- Templates in your store's colours: launch, flash sale, back in stock, newsletter, webinar invite, free download, review request, win-back and Ghanaian holidays.
- Send to a tag, so ebook buyers get the course offer and everyone else gets the free guide.
- Automations: follow-ups after a sale and other workflows run on their own.
- Schedule campaigns and send a test to yourself first.
Limits:
| Starter (free) | Pro (GH₵ 149) | Business (GH₵ 399) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email contacts | 150 | 10,000 | 50,000 |
| Marketing emails a month | 3,000 | 30,000 | 150,000 |
Prices are per month, in cedis. Receipts and order emails don't count. Campaigns to more than 300 contacts need your own verified sending domain, which also helps you reach the inbox.
Watch out for: if you don't sell anything and only want a newsletter, a dedicated newsletter tool may have more design options.
2. Mailchimp
Best for: businesses that want the best-known name and many integrations.
Mailchimp's free plan covers 250 contacts and up to 500 emails a month (250 a day). Its Essentials plan starts at about $13 a month for 500 contacts.
- Strengths: polished editor, many integrations, plenty of tutorials.
- Watch out for: the free plan is small, prices are in dollars, and they rise quickly as your list grows.
3. MailerLite
Best for: simple, good-looking newsletters on a budget.
MailerLite's free plan covers up to 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month, with paid plans for bigger lists.
- Strengths: easy editor, landing pages and forms included.
- Watch out for: priced in dollars. Connecting it to your sales needs an integration or manual imports.
4. Brevo
Best for: sending email and SMS from one tool.
Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) prices by the number of emails you send rather than the size of your list, and also offers SMS.
- Watch out for: check the free plan's daily sending limit and whether its SMS works with your Ghanaian Sender ID. Read how to get a Sender ID in Ghana.
5. Kit
Best for: creators whose main product is a newsletter.
Kit (formerly ConvertKit) is built around creators: forms, tags, automations and paid newsletters.
- Watch out for: paid products go through card payments, not mobile money. Check its free plan's limits on their site.
6. Systeme.io
Best for: an all-in-one tool for funnels, email and courses, paid by card.
Systeme.io bundles email, funnels, courses and a store, with a free plan.
- Watch out for: check which payment methods your buyers in Ghana can use. See Paylead vs Systeme.io.
Email or SMS?
In Ghana, SMS gets read almost instantly but costs per message and has no room for detail. Email is cheaper per message and better for stories, guides and launches. Most sellers do best with both: SMS vs email marketing in Ghana.
How to choose
- You sell on Paylead: use the built-in email, so buyers are tagged without imports.
- You only want a newsletter: MailerLite or Kit.
- You need the most integrations: Mailchimp.
- You want email and SMS together: Brevo, or Paylead's SMS campaigns.

Give people a reason to join: a free guide, a checklist or a discount. Read how to build an email list in Ghana.
Why do my emails go to spam?
Common reasons are sending from a free address, emailing people who never signed up, and sending to a big imported list all at once. Using your own domain helps a lot.
