How to get an SMS Sender ID for your business in Ghana

A Sender ID is the name your text messages come from, like AdwoaKitch, instead of a phone number. On Paylead you request one in Messages → Sender IDs & Settings: choose 3 to 11 letters or numbers, wait for approval, and buy an SMS credit pack. Your receipts, reminders and campaigns then go out under your name.

Why it matters

Buyers trust a text from "AdwoaKitch" more than one from a random number. It also makes your SMS campaigns look official, which means fewer people ignore them.

Step by step

  1. Open Messages → Sender IDs & Settings: SMS receipts and Sender ID.
  2. Request a Sender ID: 3 to 11 letters or numbers, no spaces. Use your brand name, shortened if you need to.
  3. Wait for approval.
  4. Buy an SMS credit pack.

Before you have one

You don't need a Sender ID to start. Without one, Paylead sends receipts and cart reminders at no cost to you, signed with your store's name. Once your Sender ID is approved and topped up, those texts and your campaigns use your name and your credits.

Choosing a good Sender ID

  • Short and close to your brand: KofiShoes, AmaBakes.
  • No spaces or symbols.
  • Avoid names that look like a bank or a network.

Yes, in Store Settings → Payments → Text buyers their receipt.

Can I change my Sender ID later?
