To make a quote card, type your quote, pick a size, a background colour and a readable font, then download the image and post it. You can do this in a minute with our free quote card generator, which runs in your browser, needs no sign-up and gives you a PNG. This guide covers the steps, the sizes, and what makes a quote card worth sharing.
What is a quote card?
A quote card is an image with a short line of text on a plain or designed background. People save and share them because they are quick to read and easy to agree with. For a seller or creator, a good quote card is also a free advert: it shows your voice, and your name or link sits on it.
How to make a quote card in 5 steps
- Open the quote card generator.
- Type your quote and the name to credit. Keep it short: one to two lines is best.
- Pick the size for where you will post (see the table below).
- Choose a colour theme and a font. Dark text on a light background, or the reverse. Avoid anything hard to read on a phone.
- Download the PNG and post it with a caption.
The generator makes the image on your own device. Your quote is not uploaded. A small paylead.app credit is on by default and you can switch it off before you download.
What size should a quote card be?
| Where | Size | Shape |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram or Facebook post | 1080 × 1080 | Square |
| Instagram portrait post | 1080 × 1350 | Portrait |
| WhatsApp Status, Instagram Stories, TikTok, Reels | 1080 × 1920 | Tall |
Leave space at the edges. Apps cover part of the top and bottom of tall images with buttons and captions.
What makes a good quote card?
- Short. Over about 25 words, people stop reading.
- One idea. One line, one point.
- Big text. Test it by looking at it at arm's length on your phone.
- High contrast. Cream on dark, dark on light. Not grey on grey.
- Your name or handle. So the card works when it is shared without a caption.
- Consistent look. Use the same colours and font on every card so people recognise yours.
Where do I find quotes to use?
Your best source is your own work.
- A sentence from your ebook or course
- A tip you give clients again and again
- A buyer's review, with their permission
- A lesson from your last video or podcast episode
- A short line of your own advice
Be careful with other people's quotes. Short quotes with the author credited are common, but do not suggest the person endorses you.
How do I use quote cards to sell?
A quote card on its own gets likes. Add one thing so it gets customers:
- Post the card.
- In the caption, add one or two sentences about where the idea comes from.
- End with a link: "The full guide is in my store, link in bio."
Examples for Ghanaian sellers: a line from your CV template pack for job seekers, a pricing tip from your business course, or a happy review from a customer in Kumasi. Post a set of five cards from one product over a week. For more post ideas, see content ideas to sell digital products, and for the buyers who reach your link, a link in bio store with MoMo checkout turns them into orders.
Ideas for a week of quote cards
| Day | Card |
|---|---|
| Monday | A tip from your product, with the page it comes from |
| Wednesday | A customer review (ask permission first) |
| Friday | A myth in your field, and the truth |
| Sunday | A line that sums up why you started |
Keep the same layout all week. After a month, look at which card was saved or shared most and make more like it.
Common mistakes
- Using a busy photo behind the text
- Fonts that are fancy but hard to read
- Too much text
- Posting a quote with no link or next step
- Making each card look different
