To take salon booking deposits in Ghana, give clients a booking link where they pick a free time and pay a deposit by MoMo or card to confirm it. On Paylead you create a Bookings product, set your hours and choose deposit. Clients get a confirmation and email reminders, and you see every appointment in one list.
Why a deposit helps
A client who has paid even a small part of the price is far more likely to show up, and if they don't, you are not left with an empty chair and nothing to show for it. Booking through a link also ends the back-and-forth on WhatsApp about which times are free.
Step by step
- Create your free Paylead account.
- Click Create product and choose Bookings: sell bookings.
- Name the service, for example "Knotless braids, medium", and set the price.
- Set the session length and your available hours for each day.
- Under how clients pay, choose Deposit, and set the deposit.
- Fine-tune your calendar:
- buffers between appointments for clean-up,
- minimum notice so nobody books for 10 minutes from now,
- days off for holidays,
- location: your salon address and directions.
- Make one Bookings product per service (cornrows, wig install, silk press…) so each has its own length and price.
- Share the booking link in your Instagram bio and WhatsApp status, or add the booking calendar to your website.
What clients get
They choose a day and time, pay the deposit, and get a confirmation with a calendar file. Reminders go to their email 24 hours and 1 hour before. You see every appointment under Products → Bookings → Appointments.
What it costs
The deposit is paid online, so it costs 4% + GH₵ 1. On a GH₵ 100 deposit that is GH₵ 5. Any balance the client pays you in person costs 2% + GH₵ 1. The Starter plan has no monthly fee.
Tips from busy salons
- Say what the deposit covers in the description: "GH₵ 100 secures your slot and is taken off your final bill."
- Write your late and no-show policy next to the price, so clients agree to it before they pay.
- Print the link as a QR code for the front desk: a reusable payment link for walk-in deposits works too.
- Sell products on the side: hair, edge control and wigs can sit in the same store as physical products.
