To sell thrift clothes online in Ghana, list each piece with its size, measurements and price, set its stock to one, and share your store link instead of answering "how much?" in DMs. On Paylead, the piece stops selling the moment it is bought, buyers pay by MoMo or card or on delivery, and every order comes with a waybill.
Why "DM for price" loses sales
Thrift buyers move fast. If they have to message you and wait, someone else gets the piece, or they lose interest. A link with the price and a Buy button lets the first serious buyer pay right away.
Step by step
- Create your free Paylead account.
- For each piece: Create product → Physical Product: add a physical product.
- Photos: front, back, label, any flaws. Good daylight.
- Write the size and measurements (pit to pit, length), the brand and the condition.
- Turn on Limit how many you can sell and set it to 1. When it sells, it stops selling.
- Set your store delivery fee and decide on pay on delivery.
- Share the store link in your bio, and the product link in each post.
Drops
Many thrift sellers sell in drops: a batch of new pieces at a set time.
- Add the pieces ahead of time and post the store link when the drop opens.
- Text your regulars before each drop with an SMS campaign.
- Use categories to group drops, and show a category on your website with a product grid.
What it costs
Online payments cost 4% + GH₵ 1. A GH₵ 120 piece costs GH₵ 5.80. Pay on delivery costs 2% + GH₵ 1. The Starter plan is free.
Frequently asked questions
What if two people want the same piece?
The first one to pay gets it. With a stock of 1, nobody else can buy it after that.
Can I hold a piece for someone?
Send them a payment link for that piece and set its product to inactive until they pay.
Should I offer pay on delivery?
It helps buyers who are new to you. Call before you send the rider to cut failed deliveries.
How do I handle returns?
Say "no returns on thrift" in your descriptions if that is your policy. See how to handle returns.
