To sell made-to-measure clothes online in Ghana, collect the client's measurements and style before you start, take a deposit by MoMo, and collect the balance before delivery. On Paylead, a service with packages collects the brief and measurements at checkout, invoices handle part payments, and your ready-to-wear pieces sell as normal products from the same store.
Custom pieces: a service with packages
- Create your free Paylead account.
- Click Create product → Service: sell a service with packages.
- Add up to three packages, for example:
- Kaba and slit, delivered in 14 days,
- Two-piece suit, 21 days,
- Bridal, 45 days.
- Under buyer requirements, ask what you need: measurements (bust, waist, hips, length…), the style or a photo, the fabric, and the date they need it.
- Publish and share the link instead of collecting details over many WhatsApp messages.
The order arrives in Sales with everything the client told you.
Deposits and balances
For bigger jobs, send an invoice with part payments on: the client pays a deposit to start and the balance before you deliver. The invoice shows Part paid until it is settled. See how to accept part payments.
Ready-to-wear: physical products
Sell finished pieces as physical products with sizes as options, each with its own stock, and offer pay on delivery if you want.
What it costs
Online payments cost 4% + GH₵ 1. A GH₵ 800 outfit costs GH₵ 33, so GH₵ 767 reaches your wallet. Pay-on-delivery orders cost 2% + GH₵ 1. The Starter plan is free.
Tips for tailors
- Show finished work on real clients (with permission) in each package.
- Say how long it takes and stick to it. Late delivery is the most common complaint.
- Take a deposit before you cut fabric.
- Add extras like a matching head wrap as an upsell.
