To accept part payments in Ghana, send an invoice that allows part payments, or a payment link for each instalment. On Paylead, the invoice shows Part paid when a deposit comes in and Paid when the balance is settled, and clients pay each part by MoMo or card. It is free to start.
Option 1: an invoice with part payments (best for one client)
- Go to Invoices → New invoice: send an invoice.
- Add the client and the items, for example "Bridal gown, made to measure: GH₵ 3,000".
- Set a due date and turn on part payments.
- Send it. The client gets it by email with a Pay now button, and you can share the link on WhatsApp.
- The client pays what they can now. The invoice shows Part paid with the balance still open.
- They come back to the same invoice to pay the rest.
Every payment lands in your wallet like a normal sale.
Option 2: a payment link per instalment (best for many people)
For a fixed plan, like a course paid in three parts or a trip paid monthly, make a payment link for each instalment ("Part 1 of 3: GH₵ 400") and send them one after the other.
Option 3: a subscription (for regular payments)
If people pay the same amount every week or month, a subscription (Pro plan) reminds them by SMS and email before each payment.
What it costs
Each online payment costs 4% + GH₵ 1. Three payments of GH₵ 1,000 cost GH₵ 41 each.
Tips
- Ask for 50% to start on custom work. It covers your materials if the client disappears.
- Put the plan in writing in the invoice note: how much, by when, and what happens if a payment is late.
- Deliver when it is paid in full, unless you agreed otherwise.
