To sell beats online in Ghana, list each licence (for example an MP3 lease, a WAV lease and an exclusive) as a digital product, upload the files, and share your link with artists. On Paylead, artists pay by MoMo or card and the download arrives as soon as the payment goes through. It is free to start and costs 4% + GH₵ 1 per sale.
Plan your licences first
Artists need to know what they are buying. Write each licence in plain words: the files they get, where they can release the song, and whether you can still sell the beat to others. Put the terms in a short PDF that goes with every download, and in the product description.
A common setup:
- Lease (MP3 or WAV): cheaper, you keep selling the beat to others.
- Lease with trackouts: the separate stems for mixing.
- Exclusive: one buyer only. Stop selling the beat once it sells.
Step by step
- Create your free Paylead account.
- Click Create product → Digital Product for each licence: sell a digital download.
- Name it clearly: "Afrobeats type beat 'Osu Nights': WAV lease".
- In the description, add the BPM, key, a link to a tagged preview (YouTube, Audiomack or SoundCloud) and the licence terms.
- Set the price.
- Under Digital Delivery, choose File Download and upload the audio (or a ZIP of the stems) and the licence PDF.
- When an exclusive sells, set that product to inactive so nobody else can buy it, and take the beat off your other leases.
- Share the links on your socials, or show your whole catalogue on your own site with a product grid.
What it costs
No monthly fee on the Starter plan. A GH₵ 300 lease costs 4% + GH₵ 1 = GH₵ 13, so GH₵ 287 reaches your wallet, or the artist covers the fee if you turn on Customer pays transaction charges. Withdrawals cost a flat GH₵ 5 and arrive the next working day.

- Upgrade offer: after an MP3 lease, offer the WAV or trackouts as an upsell.
- Custom beats and mixing: sell them as a service with packages and collect the brief at checkout.

Frequently asked questions
Can artists pay with mobile money?
Yes. MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash and AirtelTigo Money, as well as Visa and Mastercard.
How do artists get the files?
The download link appears on their receipt and in their email right after they pay, and later in My purchases.
Can I protect my files?
You can add a password, make links expire and limit downloads per buyer. Always sell from tagged previews and keep untagged files in the paid download.
Do I need my own website?
No. Every product has its own page, and your store link lists everything. If you have a site, embed a Buy button.
