To offer a free trial on a subscription, set the number of free days on the subscription product. On Paylead, new subscribers get access straight away and pay nothing until the trial ends; they are reminded before it ends and pay only if they want to keep it. Each person gets one trial per subscription. Subscriptions are on Pro and Business.
Why a trial helps
"Try 7 days free" removes the fear of paying for something unknown. Members who get value in the trial stay; the rest leave without asking for refunds.
Step by step
- Create or open your subscription: Products → Add product → Subscription: sell a subscription.
- Set Free trial to the number of days, for example 7.
- Under What subscribers get, list what they get, and under Digital Delivery, the link (a WhatsApp or Telegram group, a private page or your app) or files.
- Save and share the subscribe link.
How the trial ends
Mobile money can't be charged automatically, so Paylead reminds the subscriber before the trial ends. They tap the link and pay to keep access. If they don't pay, the subscription doesn't continue.
After that, renewals follow the normal reminders: 3 days before, on the day, and 2 days later at the end of a 3-day grace period.

What it costs
Pro is GH₵ 149 a month. Each subscription payment is a normal order at 4% + GH₵ 1. On a GH₵ 100 monthly membership that is GH₵ 5.
