To collect rent by mobile money in Ghana, send each tenant an invoice (or a payment link) they pay by MoMo or card, and keep a record of every payment in one place. On Paylead, invoices show Sent, Part paid, Paid or Overdue, so you can see at a glance who owes what, and every payment comes with a receipt.
Option 1: invoices (best for most landlords)
- Create your free Paylead account.
- Go to Invoices → New invoice: send an invoice.
- Add the tenant (name, email, phone) and the line: "Rent: Flat 2, November 2026".
- Set a due date. Turn on part payments if you accept rent in parts.
- Send it. The tenant gets it by email with a Pay now button; share the link on WhatsApp too.
- Watch the status change to Paid, or Overdue if the due date passes.
Option 2: a monthly subscription (Pro)
For tenants who pay the same amount every month, a subscription reminds them by SMS and email 3 days before, on the day, and 2 days after the due date.
Option 3: a payment link for service charges
For a shared levy (security, water, cleaning) that many tenants pay, use one reusable payment link with a fixed amount.
What it costs
Online payments cost 4% + GH₵ 1. On GH₵ 1,500 rent that is GH₵ 61. Withdrawals to your MoMo or bank account cost a flat GH₵ 5 and arrive the next working day. Invoices and payment links are on the free Starter plan.
Tips
- Same date every month. Send invoices a week before the due date.
- Write the period on every invoice so receipts double as rent records.
- Use your own payout account for rent, separate from personal money.
