Funnel hacking means studying how successful sellers in your market sell (their ads, pages, offers, prices, checkout and follow-up) so you can learn what works and build your own, better version. Done honestly, it's market research: you learn the structure and the strategy, not copy their words, designs or products. Done badly, it's copying, which hurts your reputation and can break copyright.
What to study
Pick 3–5 sellers who are clearly doing well with a similar audience (not necessarily the same product). Go through their whole journey as a customer.
1. How they get attention
- Ads: Meta's Ad Library shows every active ad a page is running. Note ads that have run for weeks: they're probably profitable.
- Content: which posts get the most comments and shares? What hooks do they use?
- Where they show up: TikTok, WhatsApp channels, Facebook groups, YouTube, Google.
2. The first page
- What's the headline promise?
- Is it a sales page, a free guide, a quiz, a webinar?
- What proof do they show?
- How long is the page? Where's the price?
3. The offer
- Price, bonuses, guarantee, deadline.
- Payment options (MoMo, card, instalments).
- How they describe the result.
4. Checkout and after
- Is there an order bump? An upsell after paying?
- What does the thank-you page say?
5. Follow-up
Sign up for their free thing (or buy their cheapest product) and keep every email, SMS and WhatsApp message for two weeks. Note the timing and the angle of each.
Build a funnel map
Write it out like this:
TikTok video (hook: "Stop wasting money on…") → Free guide page (name + email) → Thank-you page with GH₵ 49 mini course → 5 emails over 7 days → GH₵ 499 course with payment plan → Upsell: group coaching GH₵ 300
Compare maps from several sellers. The steps they all share are probably working for your audience.
Turn research into your own funnel
- Keep the structure that works (e.g., free guide → small offer → course).
- Find what they're missing. Read their reviews and comments: what do buyers complain about? That's your angle.
- Make your offer better, not cheaper: a better bonus, a stronger guarantee, local payment options, faster delivery.
- Write in your own voice, using your buyers' words (see how to find your messaging).
On Paylead you can rebuild the structure quickly: funnel templates for single products, free guides, webinars, course launches and coaching applications, with order bumps and upsells built in.
Where to draw the line
- Don't copy text, images, videos, logos or product files. That's someone else's work.
- Don't pretend to be them or mislead buyers.
- Do learn the strategy, structure, pricing approach and timing, and then make something genuinely your own.
