How to promote your e-book with Facebook and Instagram ads

To promote an e-book with Facebook and Instagram ads, send people straight to a clear sales page, track purchases with your Meta pixel, test two or three ad styles on a small daily budget for 5 to 7 days, and then put more money behind the ad that sells. E-books are a good fit for Meta ads: the price is low enough for people to buy on impulse, and delivery is instant.

Before you spend anything

  1. A sales page that sells on a phone. Cover image, a one-line promise, what's inside, the price and one button. Your Paylead product page already does this.
  2. Tracking. Add your Meta pixel and Conversions API token in Store Settings → Integrations (how). Without them, Meta can't tell which ads sold.
  3. A sample. A free chapter or a few pages people can screenshot builds trust fast.

Find your hook

People don't buy an e-book. They buy what it does for them. Finish this sentence: "After reading this, you will be able to ___." That's your hook.

  • Weak: "My new e-book on budgeting is out."
  • Strong: "A simple money plan for people who get paid on the 25th and are broke by the 5th."

The second one names a situation the reader recognises without telling them who they are (Meta doesn't allow ads that assert someone's personal circumstances, like "Are you broke?").

Three ads to test

Run these side by side in one ad set and let Meta show the winner more.

1. The cover ad

An image of your book on a phone screen or as a 3D cover, with one benefit as overlay text. Ad text: two lines on the problem, one on what the book gives, then the price.

2. The page-flip reel

Film yourself scrolling through the book on your phone for 10 to 15 seconds. Show a checklist or a useful page up close. Start with a hook in the first 3 seconds, like "The page that changed how I price my services."

3. The story ad

A short personal story: where you were, what you figured out, how the book saves the reader the same struggle. These often get the cheapest sales for e-books by a known creator.

A starting budget

Start small and give Meta time to learn. Many sellers in Ghana start with GH₵ 50 to GH₵ 100 a day for 5 to 7 days. After that, compare cost per purchase across your ads. Keep the ones that bring sales at a cost you're happy with, and switch off the rest. Read more in how much to spend on Facebook ads in Ghana.

Set up the campaign

  1. In Ads Manager, create a campaign with the Sales objective.
  2. Choose Website as the conversion location, your pixel, and the Purchase event.
  3. Target your country (or the cities where your buyers are), a sensible age range and two to five interests related to the topic.
  4. Add your three ads and your product link.

Let Paylead write the first draft

Open your e-book in Paylead and tap the green Promote megaphone. You'll get headlines, ad text in four styles and creative ideas written for your book, ready to paste into Ads Manager. Pro and Business plans also get target audiences, a budget plan and a retargeting plan. See how it works.

Frequently asked questions

Should I boost a post instead?

Boosting is fine for reach, but a Sales campaign optimised for purchases usually brings cheaper sales, because Meta looks for people likely to buy rather than people likely to like.

How cheap should my e-book be for ads to work?

There's no single answer. Ads work best when your price comfortably covers your cost per sale. Track it for a week before deciding.

Can I sell to buyers outside Ghana?

Yes. Paylead takes mobile money and cards, and you can target other countries in your ad set.
